BIG GIRL BED

Yes, my baby is now sleeping in a Big Girl Bed and boy is she is excited. I wish you could have all experienced the look on her face when she realized what was happening. She has slept in the new bed for 3 nights and so far, so good! It is precious in the mornings or after nap to hear her little feet come walking down the hall. She gets a kick out of finding us after she wakes up!

A New Favorite

DRESS UP!!
This girl can play dress up with the best of them! I absolutley love watching her grow and explore. These are some of my new favorite pictures of the Fairy Princess. :-)

Universal Studios-VIP Day with DSACF

Universal Studios had another VIP Day for children with Down syndrome and their families. This year Emerson spent the day with Aunt Courtney, Grammy, and Mommy! We all had a great time and we exhausted by the end of the day. Thank you so much Universal Studios for being so generous to all of our families.

Happy Halloween

We've had a really fun week celebrating with friends and neighbors. This year our neighborhood got together and went trick or treating together with the kids. It was a lot of fun and we even got a surprise visit from the Edgewood Police Department. Emerson caught on really quickly....knock on door = get candy! Lollipops are by far the favorite candy this year!!

The Edgewood Police Department handing out candy to the kids.

Emerson and friends admiring the "pimp ride."

E and Will- The 2 cutest things I've ever seen :-)

Ready to get the party started....

Practicing earlier in the afternoon.

This poor woman just pulled into her garage! Thank goodness for her that she had candy in her trunk. These kids weren't wasting any time!!

E turns TWO!!

Emerson had a fun weekend filled with lots of surprises, family, and friends. She invited some friends to come over and enjoy pancakes in PJ's, we went to the zoo, and even celebrated with ice cream on the big day!
At the end of the evening we decided to watch Emerson's real birthday on dvd. I can't believe how much she has changed in her short little life. I remember sitting on the birthing table looking at her, so little and fragile. Now she is full of life, personality, and spirit. I love you so much little love bug!

Our Big Girl- 23 Months

I can't believe our baby is 23 months old...that means she is ALMOST 2. Everyone tells you that they grow up so quickly and it's so true.

Here are some recent photos of our "almost 2" year old.

Enjoying an afternoon at the Bookworm in Lakewood Ranch, FL.

This one was to put a smile on Daddy's face. She knows how to do the Gator chop and we are working on the tomahowk chop.

Don't leave E alone for a minute. She LOVES her flashcard bag.

Daddy and Emerson catching her first fish.

Celebrating Grammy's last year in her 50's at OLV.

First Day of School

Emerson started attending The Wesley Child Developmental Center at the end of August. She goes to school on Tuesday and Thursday's from 9-3. She is in a class with 7 other children and absolutely loves it! When we pull into the parking lot, she starts screaming with excitement. I've been lucky enought to getting a subbing job at the same school with the same hours as E, so I can keep an eye out!!

Emerson's Entourage 2010

It’s that time again, when our family begins preparing for the annual walk around Lake Eola to support people with Down syndrome. This year the walk has changed names yet the funds raised will continue to go The Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida. The Step Up for Down Syndrome walk will be held on Saturday, October 16th at Lake Eola in Downtown Orlando.

Parents who learn for the first time that their baby will be or has been born with Down syndrome have questions; they hunger for information and need support. DSACF offers a critical map that guides parents and families to navigate their way through this new and unfamiliar territory. Parents soon learn that their sons and daughters are exuberant, resilient, and blessed with the same ambitions to explore, grow, and thrive as any child!

With the help of the Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida, individuals with Down syndrome and their families continue to learn to navigate their way through the sometimes treacherous terrain and find assurance that life for the entire family can be a truly fulfilling journey!

The DSACF annually serves 787 families as well as many area physicians, other healthcare providers and educators. DSACF offers support to individuals with Down syndrome and their families in a 7 county area by providing financial, educational, and informational resources that assist them in reaching their full potential.

Parents of children born with Down syndrome quickly find that their journey is one of those off-road adventures. Yes, there will be bumps in the road, unforeseen turns, and many challenges but there will also be heartwarming explorations, miraculous moments, and countless rewards.

Our family would be honored if you would Step Up for Down Syndrome!

The Wee Ride

Emerson continues to ride in style.....

I hope you enjoy the pictures because I almost had a few major accidents trying to capture the action shots!!

22 Months

Ok, I'm the first to admit that I haven't updated Emerson's blog in months but it is a lot harder when she is running around everywhere!! I'll try to catch you up a bit on some of the fun things we've been doing!

She's got talent!

The proud artist at work.

This is called lazy floating.

Pretending to go night-night in Lucy's bed at Grammy's house.

Like I said above, Emerson is everywhere and into everything! She successfully opens doors (thank goodness for our alarm system), climbs on top of anything she is not supposed to, loves taking bike rides, has the cutest dance moves, enjoys strutting around the house with a purse and tutu, swims underwater, likes to shake her head NOOOO, hates getting her hair done, has lots of friends, and still does not like most vegetables!

She is a bundle of fun and we couldn't imagine our lives without the little princess. Emerson will be starting a part time school in the end of August. I am hoping to sub at the same school to give myself some adult interaction and to keep a close eye on E. :-) We are so excited for her because we know she will have a blast with the other children!!
I hope to post more regularly once I have a little more time on my hands!!

Miss Rebecca

Emerson has offically graduated from physical therapy! It is very sad to our family because Miss Rebecca, her physical therapist is like family to us. She has been working with Emerson since she was 3 months old. We appreicate all the time, ideas, suggestions, and love that Miss Rebecca has given to our sweet little girl!

Fishy Fishy

Emerson has become quite the little fish this summer. She is currently taking swimming lessons on Saturday mornings and getting lots of practice at our neighbors pool. She loves the water just like her momma!!

Princess Emerson at Disney

This past July, Orlando was lucky enough to host The National Down Syndrome conference! It was the first national conference that Travis and I attended on Down syndrome. It was inspiring to see all of the other families and learn more about Emerson's future. We feel extremely blessed to be living in such a wonderful community that has many resources available (unlike many families that we met). While Travis and I were at the conference, Emerson spent some quality time with Gramma and Grammy. Here are some photos of Emerson while taking a visit at The Magic Kingdom with Grammy. A special thank you to Great Aunt Gail for making Emerson her very own Princess Emerson dress! :-)

Our Little Ladybug

Since Emerson's adenoid removal and ear tubes she has transformed into a true toddler. Her appearance, confidence, attitude, and interests have all changed! I had to post these pictures from Delaney Park because they crack me up. We stopped by the park on the way to visit with her Great Grandma (hint the fancy dress at a park).

She thinks she is something else!!

Working Girl

Now that she is walking, we are putting her to work!!
